Mechanical Engineering (GIA)

Mechanical Engineering is a core engineering discipline of any field of engineering one wishes to pursue as a career, the basics of Mechanical Engineering come in handy in the effective design, development, and optimization of equipment and devices used in any industrial activity. Keeping in mind cutthroat competition in the industries and to cater to the needs of mechanical engineers in the industries of Gujarat and beyond, the college had started Mechanical program with the intake of 60 seats in the year 1958 affiliated to Technical Education Board, Gandhinagar. Since 2009 it is now working under the affiliation to Gujarat Technological University. Mechanical Department currently has an intake of 120 at Diploma Engineering level under Gujarat Technological University. The faculties are well experienced and committed to producing world-class Diploma engineers with blend of industrial, academic and Research experience. Mechanical Department has state of the art laboratories. In addition to normal laboratory, department has specialized labs in the Mechanical Engineering like CAD, CNC, Smart Class, RAC Lab, advanced workshop, Thermal Engineering, Material Testing Lab, CAM lab can be used for research & advance learning purposes. Mechanical Department has actively involved students in overall development through student-centric activities. Student Central Committee has been formed where Career enrichment programs are conducted in terms of seminars/workshops/certificate programs/ aptitude tests. Our students have actively participated in various technical activities and won prizes in many events. Many alumni of the department have settled at reputed position around the globe. Being under the Charutar Vidya Mandal, department has the flexibility to modify the Infrastructure and Laboratory as per the need of the industries. The department grooms a student to an extent that he/she can excel in the field of technology independently. Our Mechanical students are well trained for the latest industrial technology with thorough knowledge of the courses. The skills are inculcated into the students through hands-on practice in labs. The value education, communication and soft skills are also imparted to the student which ensures their 360 degree holistic development.

MISSION

1) To empower students with quality technical skills.
2) To develop awareness and interest in lifelong learning.
3) To develop art of curiosity and ability to think out of box solutions in students.
4) To inculcate ethics for societal responsibility and holistic approach.

VISION

“Transform students into creative value based Mechanical engineers to meet ever-changing industry and society demands”.
